Evening all,
So having various problems with c/l
I’ve cleaned pins at drivers door.
I’ve rebuilt drivers lock
I’ve done red/black wire mod.
The c/l unit appears to be okay, slight white dust on pins which I have cleaned.
Cleaned drivers door micro switch plug in the door
When working, the central locking can lock and unlock everything from boot, drivers and passengers locks.
It will do any of these 2 situations.
1. Will lock all locks by it self, and after that no central locking at all until battery disconnected and reconnected.
2. All locks will randomly lock/unlock them selfs rapidly for a few seconds ending in a lock.
Problem 1 can happen at anytime. But can also happen if either door is opened and closed.
Problem 2 seems to happen randomly while only stationary and does not seem to be linked to doors opening/closing
Any suggestions on where to try next?

I would check the loom for breaks and shorts in the rubber boot between the plug and the door.

Just followed some test instructions on unofficialbmw that point to the control unit being the problem.

I’ve just had the central locking unit tested and no problems can be found.
Can some one point me in the direction of some information on the unit that sits above the ecu.
I believe this is to do with the alarm? I’m not sure what it’s referred to and am wondering if this could be causing some issue?

Do you mean the motronic ECU behind the dash?
The factory alarm unit that sits above that has no connection to the central locking.
"1. Will lock all locks by it self, and after that no central locking at all until battery disconnected and reconnected.
2. All locks will randomly lock/unlock them selfs rapidly for a few seconds ending in a lock."
Those symptoms point to a wire shorting out somewhere to me.

How did you manage to remove the lock from the door to rebuild it?? I've bought myself a kit from BMW but don't have the hole in my door and when trying to remove what I thought was the horsehoe clip I managed to break a plastic clip ahhaha.linke30 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 16, 2021 5:35 pmEvening all,

& Yes I have read the page on the wiki for this and my manuals but still no dice. Am going to resort to the angle grinder to make a hole to access the lock mechanism tomorrow.

Hi,
Yes removed old lock and rebuilt and replaced.
So you have no where to unlock the door with the key? Is all done by remote locking?

You don't need to cut the door, remove the window reg/winder, remove the glass or wedge it up and then you have loads of access to the lockLemon98 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 20, 2021 9:55 pmHow did you manage to remove the lock from the door to rebuild it??
