I've seen that this has been done for LHD cars before and was wondering if anyone had fitted and e85 rack to a RHD car? I don't think there should be any significant differences.
This is a non power steering rack as the Z4 has electric power steering in the steering column. Apparently the ratio is similar to a Z3 rack but with more overall travel and this should be a better alternative for a manual rack to blanking off a power steering rack as it has less resistance.
This is a picture of the steering rack, in my donor e85 that I have taken the M54b30 from for my e30, compared to a purple tag rack and they look like they are a similar size although the steering column splines are different. Apparently a shortened e85 steering column can be used on LHD but I will check that the splines are the same on the E30 end for RHD cars.
I will test the ratio and take more measurements once the tie rods have soaked in wd40 and I can remove them.
