Stuck in reverse

Hi everyone,

I hope this find you all safe and well

I'm in need of some assistance as I seem to have managed to get my e30 cab stuck in reverse.

Basically whenever I initially switch the car on and go to reverse out of my drive, the car usually gets stuck in reverse for some reason until i switch it off, take it out of gear and start again and then the problem goes away.
Anyway, as a result of my impatience, instead if switching the car off and taking it out of gear I thought it would be a good idea to just yank it out which obviously wasn't a good idea.

Now my gear stick can move around all over the place but the car is in reverse. As soon as I switch it on I have to keep my foot on the clutch and as I raise it the car begins to reverse.
Hopefully I haven't done anything too serious but I'm clueless as to where to begin,

Any ideas?

It sounds like you have broken the linkage rod between the lever and the gearbox. But the initial reason for being stuck in reverse gear is probably the clutch not clearing, either this is hydraulic related clutch slave or master cylinder or the clutch itself not clearing.

Part number 11 here but check with your chassis number for the correct part number

You could have lost the pin that holds the selector rod to the gearbox.

All of the above, or the engine and gearbox might have moved on broken engine and box mounts. It wouldn't be the first engine I've seen held in by gravity alone.
