Hello, about 1 year ago I have started to enjoy a BMW 325i convertible from 1989. The automatic transmission has recently started to behave in a strange way: when I start the car and drive off (cold start), the transmission will not shift in 2nd except after several seconds of revving all the way to 6000 rpms. I see that it seems with the cold weather, it gets a bit worse. After it finally shifts up, everything is again perfect, no slipping, shifting up and down quickly, no jolting etc.
The transmission had a recent refurbishment sticker from ZF on it and I know the car did not do a lot of mileage over the last 5 years prior to buying it. About 1 year ago I changed the transmission filter and the ATF anyway, the oil level is OK.
I use the car only for pleasure, it is not a daily driver. Yet, I did 5000 km in (less than) one year, I drive it as often as I can.
Do you have some ideas which you could share with me to help out?
Thanks!

Are you sure the oil level is correct? Don't forget it should be checked with the oil hot and the engine running.
If it's an EH box (rotary switch on the rear centre console), check that the electrical connector on the gearbox doesn't have any corrosion and it fully in place.
Again, if it's an EH box, it may be worth checking the operation of the throttle position potentiometer on the throttle body.
If none of the above helps, then it's likely to be a professional job to repair.
