There are kits to retrofit ISOFIX to MK2 Ford Focus. I fitted a pair to a Focus.
I believe they can fit the E30 with a couple of suitable holes, nuts and washers. The Fords have captive nuts there but it is not particularly re-inforced so a couple of good sized washers will be plenty strong enough
I'm sure Mart will tell you how he did it but you are going to have to swallow it and use instructions for a Baur

I did buy one for the Baur and due to brocken bones/replacements etc and just plain forgetting to do it, this is a timely reminder to get on with it.
The rail came with two M10/8 bolts (?) and it only needs to have two holes drilled in the rear bulkhead and secured with nylocs and penny washers.
This is VERY secure (as long as the rear bulkhead is good) I would not have gone for it if I didnt think it was safe Stefan.
I did not use this one but it is very similar.

I`m sure you could do this Stefan

May even be cheaper direct from the dealers, I am sure I only paid about a tenner for it
Mind you it was a few years ago and even E30 prices were normal back then

This is mine - attached the old fashioned way using the seatbelt and a securing strap at the top (yes, it looks ridiculous). I have doubts about how safe it would be in anything more than a low-speed crash, so I only use it occasionally for short trips to kindy.

Yes so the ISOFIX jaws on the seat can grab the loop, google it, should be clear enough.
All none-ISOFIX seats just use the belts, which may be the better option (save drilling the car) but I have a feeling the E30 belt is a bit short for many of the seats you would have to try them first
Plus transfering from car to car is so much quicker.
Stefan, I was just thinking, with the cab being a dedicated two rear seats, it could pay to offer up the seat first to make sure there is enough room for it to fit ?

Just for info, I've always stuck with seatbelt fix car seats, (even in newer cars) and not had any issues with the couple I used in my touring.
I'm sure when I read up on them, there was a lot of info saying that belt fitted seats were just as safe as isofix seats, as long as you make sure it's fitted properly (and obviously, belts/mounting points/etc are good, on a classic!).
I believe the only real benefits of isofix are ease of fitting and you can't do it wrong!!!
Other reason for this was getting one of the child seats that rotates on it's base, so you can put the child straight in - really useful if you have any back pain and your little monster is a bit of a unit!!!!!!
Actually got two of them now, used in E30 touring, E61 touring, Mazda 3, and Focus mk1 - also went in the back of the E46 compact fine, though the rotate feature was redundant in the back of a 2 door!!!

I know but people become anal now, so I'd rather do it properly as gone are the days of doing 60mph with no seat belts on through London with a child on your lap in the front passenger seat..........miniblob wrote: ↑Sat Oct 31, 2020 4:36 pmJust for info, I've always stuck with seatbelt fix car seats, (even in newer cars) and not had any issues with the couple I used in my touring.

Good point. The belt is short enough to make fitting a bit of a pain with the seat I have.flybynite wrote: ↑Sat Oct 31, 2020 7:31 amYes so the ISOFIX jaws on the seat can grab the loop, google it, should be clear enough.

I bought a Ford ISO fix one but never got around to doing it but all that`s needed is to bolt it through the rear bulk head with 10mm blots.
Quite simple but very strong.
