Hey Guys,

I just bought this Lemfoerder tie rod assembly for the ol e30. This new one seems to have a new design for the inner rod. It seems the lock washer can't be bent over it like the old one. I'm wondering if anyone has experienced this and what the solution is? Perhaps just some locktite for good measure. Thx!

Loctite is almost universally used in situations like this these days

The Febis i picked up are of the same/similar design, i used both the lock washer and a smidge of medium grade (blue) thread locker.

Despite the locking ring obviously not being able to bend, i did notice that it was much harder to tighten or loosen the inner rod with it installed, so i kept it in there.

That is an E46 style inner joint, looks like they have now become universal, they did away with any type of locking device with these joints, there are no real forces at all that would cause the inner thread to unwind

I was going to mention, how they appear similar to the E46 style inner rods, but i do not have personal experience with rack swaps and did not want to bring it up.

I believe i used a big beefy 36mm wrench to tighten them down, a standard one as well, the fan clutch 32mm thin wrench is perfect for the OE/OEM thin inner ones.
