325i engine revs surge then die down.

Hi All, anyone experienced this before.....on starting up the engine revs up to around 1500rpm and then dies down and repeats....also when driving, which is a bit tricky!

All sorted I think, but a bit wet to take her on a road test.
Reading the wiki pages gave me some excellent pointers so first up cleaned the ICV, which wasn't majorly dirty, but cleaned it all the same as best you can with what appears to be a sealed unit....and BINGO..hopefully all sorted! Thanks E30 Forum.
