Which part number for this rear-demister button?

Hi. Seems like I have a different rear-demister button compared to the ones I find online. The bottom part is a different color and it has different plugs. Does anyone know which part number it is?

1986 325 cabrio is 61 31 1 376 03
E30 is 61 31 1 380 351

Use the EPC at this site. very simple to use. You would need to back up a bit as I have it for 1987 320i auto.

These switches are quite simple to strip and clean, I have done lots, especially window switches which, being horizontal, fill with dust and crap.

You mean the switch works intermittently or the heating elements are mostly knackered? I had the latter problem and ended up getting new glass but there are repair kits for the elements.

yep mine does , I know I've just been put and about and the rain is the miserable type that clings in a fine mist to everything (except my rear screen )

Would help if you stated what year and model you have, so many versions of E30.
So we are to take it you have a late E30 325E?

Mine works but I have about 6 that need a touch of repair paint.

My screen is down to 2 working elements-all the rest have failed at their ends where they join the vertical strips.

Mine used to work before I broke the button! I took the button apart to see how it looked on the inside, but when I put it back together the button wouldn't stay pressed in. The spring was in the center. So now it stopped working

I'm completely stuck on these things. I ordered an extra button which looked pretty much identical, turns out it was yet another one. The previous owner of my car also already had bought a new one (wrong one as well), so now I have three different buttons with different partnumbers. I took them all apart carefully (while they were still working), and I'm 100% sure nothing fell off. However, after taking them apart and directly putting them back together they simply won't stay toggled when you press them. They release directly.

I've no idea why your switches won't stay in, and can't make out anything from the pics., but there are no single button E30 switches that don't latch.
The toggle/latching mechanism is fairly obvious when you have one apart, so you should be able to see if it' present or not, and, if it is, what's wrong with it.
When you take these switches apart, keep the buttons on top all the time, if you want to avoid small bits everywhere.

I'm starting to feel rather stupid, but by no means can I find a latching mechanism in either one of those three buttons. Not sure what I'm looking for but it's hard to believe all three of them lost their latching parts.

The tabs on mine came off the glass but I found electrically conductive glue on the internet and stuck them back. I am left with one line of element not working and cannot see any break, so I presume it is a very small crack. Has anyone got a method of locating that? I have tried running the point of a circuit test along it without effect. My only other idea is to have someone inside holding a sheet of white paper against it while I examine it carefully with a magnifying glass, so has anyone got a patient wife I could borrow? I doubt mine would last 30 seconds.
