Hi I have recently bought a 1993 E30 1.8 concertible and since taken it home have had a problem with it. sometimes the car will start sometimes it wont. when it does start it will run like crap and when the car is revved it will try to die unless revved slowly. I have replaced the AFM, have changed filters and plugs, have taken off the ICV and cleaned it, have had a quick look for vacuum leaks but didnt see any major ones. Very fed up of this  Any help would be extremely appreciated :!:

How did you "look" for vacuum leaks.

My favorite way is to get some fag lighter gas and spray it round with the engine running. If the revs rise you're near the leak.

Thanks for the reply Ben..
I connected a compressor to the intake elbow and built up slight pressure 1-2psi and listened for leaks but couldn’t seem to source any major ones but your idea seems good with the lighter fluid I must give that a go!

You can also do it with brake cleaner. :)

Checked for vacuum leaks with no luck, bar one minor one.. I then replaced the blue temperature sensor with also no luck.

Has this car ever run properly while you have owned it?
Does it have a cat?
