Hi All,
I'm looking to change the front silencer section of exhaust on my 1989 320i Touring. Having done a lot of research it would appear I have quite a unique system on mine (is the original one from factory believe it or not).
So I have the 3 piece system with no cat and the downpipe has the diamond shape, 4 stud connection to the manifold. The downpipes are one with the front silencer itself. I'm really struggling to find the part number for it or the correct section of exhaust, but I can find many types that are similar, although will not fit. I've attached some pictures which will hopefully help explain which style of exhaust I have but in short it's the 3 piece system with no cat.
I was just wondering if anyone has had any luck finding this part or even knows the correct part number as RealOEM doesn't even show it. Have tried all the usual parts sites and even BMW themselves but to no avail.
Any help greatly appreciated! My exhaust shop were not keen to fabricate the section themselves so just thought I'd ask the question on here before I go back to them.

Very similar to my 325i exhaust in that the downpipe and front silencer were all one piece. I have this on my ebay watch list in case I need one, which should fit depending on the size of the flange at the manifold. There are two sizes of diamond shaped manifold/downpipe joints

That looks like a two piece. Unless you are counting the manifold?otE30touring wrote: ↑Mon Jun 08, 2020 7:00 pmHi All,

Ah yes it's possible I've misinterpreted it as I was counting the manifold. Seems to be mixed meanings of 2 vs 3 piece online so would make sense if mine was a 2 piece with the downpipes being integrated. Thanks!BenHar wrote: ↑Mon Jun 08, 2020 9:04 pmThat looks like a two piece. Unless you are counting the manifold?otE30touring wrote: ↑Mon Jun 08, 2020 7:00 pmHi All,

Yours is the standard system. ETK diagrams often show generic pictures of an item, which may not remotely resemble the item you have with the same name.

The parts diagram shows a completely different item as it has the two triangle downpipe connections, but that is the part number for my front section, and the cross reference shows that it's likely to be the same part as yours. If you use real oem with your vin you can find the part number.

Thanks Brian, do you think it's safe to say the picture on diagrams is probably incorrect then?Brianmoooore wrote: ↑Tue Jun 09, 2020 1:49 pmYours is the standard system. ETK diagrams often show generic pictures of an item, which may not remotely resemble the item you have with the same name.

Thanks all for the help here! Yeah the picture was throwing me off as they've been dead accurate for everything else I've looked up. Maybe it's just the picture that is incorrect then as it threw up the two triangle downpipe connections when I put my VIN intha881 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 09, 2020 7:23 pmhttps://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/partxr ... series=E30
