I’m replacing the front shocks with bilstein b4. The old ones (which were red no idea gas or hydraulic) are totally knackered. When I took the old one out there was oil in the tube which was expected as Bentley manual recommends 25ml ordinary engine oil for heat transfer. BUT is says don’t replace the 25ml oil with gas pressure shocks. Bilsten B4 are gas pressure shocks do I or don’t I put the 25ml of oil in? YouTube guides etc are unclear on this.

Bilstein don't need the oil for heat transfer because they are 'upside-down'

Nothing stopping you having some in there to stop rusting etc etc.

Just make sure there is no water in there to freeze, oil is a good way to do that.
