Hi guys, new here and need some help.
I've got an e30 318i with an m40b18 and unknown miliage (currently on 192k but counter is broken). I'm assuming its 200k+ and hasnt been well maintained. the idea is to limp it through the summer until i can swap it in the autumn/winter.
Recently it has started to barely idle; on startup it'll drop to 400-500rpm, nearly stalling, then it'll shoot up to 2-2.5k revs and just sit there. The mpg counter randomly flicks between both ends of the scale though i know that could be my wiring.
Engine also overheats unless i'm staying above 30mph-ish, im guessing head gasket has gone/is going, though my coolant and oil both show no signs of mixing. On a side note the cams have worn and revving fully is out of the question...
I know I should just scrap the m40 but is there any way I can limp it through a couple more months?
