Switching on A/C

My air-con only seems to run with the blue button in and the bottom slider fully across to the right. I appreciate one of the sliders needs to be across (at least one vent open) but thought for some reason it was switched via the top or middle one. Anyone else have the same setup? Seems a bit counterintuitive if I want to demist screen but have to have floor vent open to get ac to run. Maybe switch has been incorrectly connected?
