The final part of my back end mechanical rebuild is looming- I have a propshaft with a suspect UJ at the rear end joint to the diff. It is what I'd call "notchy" as you swivel it about.

Secondly I have an on going balance issue - ever since my friends at Fritz dissmantled the prop and re fitted it incorrectly - ie. out of balance, I've never been happy with it - I still have
some strange vibrato at some speeds through the acceleration curve.

Is there a tried and trusted prop balance shop that can also handle the UJ replacement CORRECTLY that anyone can recommend?

As I'm in downtown Dortmund - I have a possibility to ship my prop to VIP in Poland - but also wanted to check out any good UK guys to handle this.

Thanks

Paul :-)

Well if I go ahead with the intended swap I can't see me spending ages seeing what car has a prop that will fit an E30 M54 6 speed hit and miss so the intention is to get one done and properly balanced.

Caveat is I have't used them but narrowed down my thoughts to 2 places in the south east.

Bailey Morris Ltd (www.propshaft-services.co.uk) or

JW Engineering (www.jwtransmissions.co.uk)

JW would be my preference because they seem a proper old-school engineering firm, but as I say, got no further than talking to them.

Nice reply - thanks.

I've written to JW to see what they make of my issue - also to check they do "staked" UJ's I read that some shops can't deal with them and screw things up.

These are the guys I mentioned - they have a presence in many EU countries - but you need to ship your prop to them:
