Hello all from Spain,
I have a 325i and I've some doubts regarding my temperature gauge. The needle stays just above the blue mark as you can see in the picture.
With a laser thermometer I measured the temperature in the hose between the engine and the radiator and I got 80C (this means that the thermostat is open and shouldn't be...) Am I right?? Is the temperature gauge working good?
Also a problem with the speedometer and the km count...It doesn't work. I only replaced the fuse 12. Should I replace the sensor placed in the differential?
Thanks in advance to all of you.

For the speedometer, check the wires coming from the sensor on the differential. They often fail due to work hardening of the copper. Replace the last 30cm or so.

Thanks Ben! I'll do it! For the temperature gauge? Any idea? I think I should replace the thermostat but, with a temp of 80C, should the needle be on this position?

Replace the thermostat before checking any further with the temp. gauge. The needle should be a little higher on the gauge with the correct 'stat, but there's no common electrical faults that make it read slightly low.

The temp gauge on my 316 also just goes slightly over the blue mark and I have never had any cooling issues. The car also heats up within a couple of miles so if there is a problem with the actual gauge reading I don't intend to fix it.
