Got a little bit of a silly question. Just rebuilding an '88 325i that has been sitting with no engine in for over 10 years. Engines now in, pretty much ready to go, just waiting on a few last bits. Have just been plugging in the engine harness and have one female 2 pin connector and I can't work out where its supposed to go. It comes out of the harness with the ICV and TPS plugs. Anyone got any idea?

This one comes up on here several times a year. It's the plug for a solenoid valve in the vacuum line to a carbon canister, both of which you don't have fitted.

As well as the unused electrical plug, you also have the unused vacuum connections. One is a rubber hose connected to a steel pipe in the lower back left of the engine compartment, and the end of this hose must be left open, otherwise your 55 litre fuel tank will become a 35 litre tank. The other connection is a small stub pipe, under the throttle body, almost touching the throttle position switch, and this must be blocked off for the engine to idle properly. It should be fitted with a small rubber cap, but this often deteriorates with age and falls off.
