Also on my list of easier bits to do , is changing out the high beam bulbs on my touring.
My headlights are 6000k HID units (been on there a long time, passed many MOT's, before you ask!).
My main/high beam lights are very yellow looking next to the headlights and although obviously aimed higher, they don't add as much as I'd like!
(A lot of my commute is dark, empty country lanes - want as much chance of spotting wild deer as possible!)
The wiki says the bulbs are H1 55W, so I'm assuming I have to stick to that and just go for the brightest bulbs I can find?
Something like these Philips xtreme +130% white?

Any recommendations/ideas???
I'm assuming I can't convert these to HID, as I wouldn't be able to flash them (my HIDs take a few seconds to warm up) - unless the cheap ebay ones are instant on?
I'm also tempted to try some of these magic ebay led bulbs, but I'm assuming they won't be much good in real life!

I think the MoT regs changed last year, and your HID dipped beams should now be a failure, even though they were not in the past, though whether the tester would notice them unless they went looking I don't know, It would certainly be better not to ask!
You can now get Osram Nightbreaker +150% bulbs for £16.25 a pair LINK and I find those very good.
I am not sure how well LED bulbs would work in a E30 reflector, somehow I do not like them too much in my modern BMW, although they are bright enough.
Incidentally, I have been very pleased with the cruise control kit I bought from you!

Hmmmmm, just read the HID thread above - had no idea they were no longer legal - just passed an MOT with them and they're pretty obvious!!!
Tempted to try the pricier option Brian linked to, but as with everyone else, it would be nice to see, or at least hear of some experience with them first.
Glad you're enjoying the cruise - was wishing I'd kept that a few days ago when I was stuck in a long 50 zone!!!
