The bulb (I guess) behind my rev counter/water temp gauge etc seems to have died. It was dropping out intermittantly with a short tap on the dial sorting it but it has now gone for good.

Has anyone got a ideas/tips for how I can sort this? I'm new to BMW ownership and not sure where to start.

Thanks in anticipation

Mate, the clocks are easy to remove.

Basically remove the panel above your knees(2 plastic twist screws).
Then reach up under neath there and there are 2 finger tight nuts that hold the small panel in just beneath the clocks.
Then remove the screw holding the clock surround in(2 at top,2 at bottom i think).
Then there are 4 phillips screws holding the clock in,remove these and thats it.
You may want to take the steering wheel off to get more room but not absolutely nessarsary.
All the bulbs are twist lock type in little Black holders, pair long nose pliers, twist to the left and remove.

Explanation is a bit shit but hopefully it gives you an idea!

you dont need to take the wheel off

and with the screws make sure you put them back exactly as they came out they are different lengths and if u put a long one in a short hole it goes thru the circuit board. Push gently on the panel under the cluster when gettin the nuts off its a bit tricky unless u have tiny hands. There are two plugs on the back of the cluster. Make sure u replace the globes with the same that came out too.

hope that helps

Excellent, cheers for the tips. I'll have a look at that tomorrow. I've got a Snap off wheel so taking it off is no problem at all :D

Cheers
