Hi all,
New guy here and pretty new to the BMW E30 seen.
Have a question if anyone could help?
Car I have just bought is a bmw e30 320i m20 engine year 1985
I would just like to know is it normal for the cooling radiator fan to constantly run as soon as the engine is started, then switch off once the car has been turned off?
I always thought a radiator fan would only kick in when the engine is hot and turn off once it has cooled down?
New here

Welcome to the zone mate, a very good choice indeed
I will duplicate this in the technical section so you will have a much better chance of a solution.
Mart.

Yea, mine does the same thing and I never had cooling issues. Its a viscous fan rather than electric so spins all the time the engine is running.

As Contours said, it is a viscous fan that spins at all time when the engine is running but it will spin faster as the engine gets hotter due to the fluid becoming more viscous thus being less resitance with the coupling.
Thanks
