Hi all

I have bought myself some bilstein b4 front and rear shocks and was wondering what sort of drop i need for front and rear on a m40 engined touring
Obviously i understand people have different tastes and needs so there is no definitive answer

I personally would like the car to sit fairly level and like the arch gap to decrease without being ridiculously low and still usable. I will be going for H&R springs for my finished setup and factory BBS to begin with

Would love to hear opinions on this and even pictures of your car with an explanation of your setup would be brilliant

Thanks, Andy

Hi Andy.

I recently went for B4 shocks and B3 springs as I wanted a relatively oem level to my 325i cab living in London and it's forest of speed bumps, potholes etc. Was tempted with a drop of 10-20mm on each corner though - mainly for stance, although with my little bottle top wheels it probably wouldn't make a lot of visual difference :)

Personally I think a Touring looks very nice indeed with a slightly lower setup.

Cheers inkey
Yeh it seems the touring is unlevel with the factory spring heights

Thinking myself about a 30mm drop at the front and a 20mm drop at the back possibly

I used Bilstein B4's and Eibach spring combination and the car looks much better. Although stiffer, the ride quality is not compromised at all. It makes it slightly more difficult though to get an oil pan under the sump when changing oil without jacking up the car which was the case previously.

Hi Contours
sits a lovely height
What did you lower it by?
I was told that all i really need were some mtech springs up front and original up rear

Sorry for bringing this to the top agaian :)

It's just a combination of Eibach 30mm lowering springs which determines the ride height along with Bilstein B4 struts in the front. I used the Eibach 30mm lowering springs in the back but haven't changed the rear shocks as yet (think they are Boge shocks in there). Its grand as it is and I can get over speed bumps with no problems. The car failed an Nct (Mot) on a broken front spring which was why I decided on this set up. Mtech springs I assume would be off a 318is so would be lower and would work but I would prefer to go new on something like this.
