icv only works for 2 seconds and engine dies if plip throttle

Hi All.
Can anyone help please . M40 engine.
when the engine is stone cold , i start the car fires up fine approx 1500 revs
problem is it drops straight after a second or 2 to a 600 - 700 idle.
its been cleaned. blue temp sensor new and checked at e.c.u.
its like the icv is not getting enough power while the engine is warming up.
any ideas appreciated. I changed the e,c.u too . same issue.

ANYONE ? JUST WANNA ADD when idling with stonecold engine if i blip the throttle engine dies .

It's not the element in the MAF that's at fault? Can't think of anything else if you've cleaned and checked for leaks etc

thanks for the reply , but my e30 has not got a mass airflow meter , and i don,t think any have . we have afm . older design.
i,ve chexked and cleaned that all seems o.k

the only thing i thought is have a got a bad inlet manifold gasket where the I/M meets the head, ? dont know how to test this theory
as the engine warms up and expands it seals it. as i don,t have a problem when at running temp.
