Anyone got any good advice on valve seal removal M20 885 head - I don't have the special tools needed and don't want
to bugger up the guides.

I have the head off, light skim also replace cam, rockers and rocker arm shafts as well as re lap the valves, thought it
would be prudent to do the seals whilst its stripped and the valves are out.

and the car uses almost no oil, very clean exhaust on acceleration and deceleration.

which probably means they are fine. if they were knackered the engine would be burning oil. thats why i asked.
on the induction stroke of the ottowa cycle if the seals are shoot oil will be sucked into the combustion chamber and pumped out on the exhaust stroke.

Even if they are still good they will be 20+ years old and have potential to leak after you refit the head.
Up to you but I changed mine while the head was off as a not to expensive precaution.
I had a workshop remove and fit mine while the valves were lapped. But I believe it can be done with a socket on the metal part for installation and removal with a good set of pliers. You will damage them but if your putting new ones on it doesn't matter.

No sane person would lap in the valves and reuse the old valve stem seals. No special tools involved, although I think some seal sets come with a little condom to go over the sharp edges of the valve stem while you fit them
