Hi,

I want to install Bilstein B8 shocks and Eibach lowering springs on my 1988 316, but I'm a little confused about which to buy.

The description of the products I've been viewing mention two different strut diameters - 47 and 51mm. What's the difference?

Is there anything else I should know before buying better shocks and springs?

Many thanks,

Ollie

I think the sameller dia ,47mm are for the smaller engine cars (below 2.0 liter) and the 51 mm make up for the rest...................except the 318is and ALL tourings are 51mm . (I think.lol)

Mart.
Only the E46 cab left now.
Just got too old.

The two sizes refer too the physical size of your existing front strut tubes. Measure their diameter below the spring perches and the hub carrier.
A few E30 models (some smaller engined saloons mainly) were fitted with the smaller diameter struts, and you won't be able to fit a 51 mm damper insert inside of them .
