on a 1991 318i I spotted what looks like and oil leak coming from where the air inlet joins the inlet manifold , doesn't smell of fuel so just wondering what it could be

if you follow the air pipe from the throttle body to the inlet manifold it seems to be coming from there , we only spotted it as it looks as if its running on the cable that runs between the throttle body and the manifold

thats the breather pipe from the rocker cover , probably split . you needa new pipe. blow by gas which contain some oil mist are being sucked back into the inlet manifold to be combusted , and can form oil droplets inside the pipe . if its the pipe i believe your referring to. a photo would help .
