ecu for m40 . anyone fitted a 1.8 ecu into a 1.6 engine 89

HI just wondered if anyone has fitted a 1.8 ecu in a 1.6 m40 engine. the one i,ve got hold of is bosch 0 261 200 387 .
but i think that's for a later model 91 1.8 i tourer.
my car 1989 1.6 auto. sedan
i think they are both motronic 1.3

In theory the car will run, but just richer.

that might not be such a bad thing at the moment , icv not getting enough current and car stalls when cold if you press accelerator hard.

do you think it will damage anything ? . my car has no cat or abs

Is your car definitely a 1.6? The 1.6 and 1.8 engines look identical .... just a thought might be worth checking engine numbers to see if it is

yes defo 1.6 .
