hey zone my fuel gauge in my 87 325i isnt working right it will register a full tank but basically drops to zero most of the time but will occasionally show a reading that is mostly wrong
any ideas (also the nut on the back of the gauge is tight)

Easiest thing to do is to check level sender connections under back bench (there are two on facelift) but very likely the little wound wires on the sender unit inside fuel tank got worn and broken of at some point so new sender unit might be needed. Like I said there are two and you would need to inspect then both to find the faulty one.
