A new use for baby oil. No not that... This is an idea from Practical Classics. Rub a small amount onto the dash. Plastic is oil based and over time the oils dry. Baby oil is not water based and as such should replenish some of the original oils in the dash plastic. Seems to work well, shiny at first then dulls down after a week or so as the oil is absorbed. Probably cheaper than less effective commercial stuff.

I use 303 wipes, baby oil is also good for stainless steel.

I'll try this out but maybe not on a dash, not a fan of shiny dash as when sun is out its to mutch glare, not that it happens a lot here in northwest

I prefer boiled linseed oil, again, slight shine when new but fades to natural as new look, lasts for years, good on everything.
One bottle will last a life time, use very sparingly, spread super thin and polish off.
Fantastic for restoring damaged plastic finish.

I use silicone milk
It makes dash slippery so the dust wont stay on it, no unnatural shine

Every car wash in my area has this staff, they treat interior with it, but some are so shiny and I avoid them and others are ok.. Do not know how they call this in your area, but it is white staff smells nice..
Some commercial packaging..

I find that silicon sprays are fine in the short term but can affect some paintwork.

I read that it's the foam backing underneath the dash that shrinks with age ( like us all ) that causes the dash to crack don't know how true this

It will dry out over time, same like the foam in a hardtop.Aly-g wrote:I read that it's the foam backing underneath the dash that shrinks with age ( like us all ) that causes the dash to crack don't know how true this
