My 325 has been fine idling at 700 but I decided to have the injectors refurbished ,cleaned and new o rings and caps fitted , these were spare set I had and were refurbished by a professional company But today after swopping them my idle speed is up to 1500 rpm , it does drop down to 1000 but goes up again, I removed the connector from the ICV and the revs drop right down but threatens to stall , the AFM is brand new and like I say this has only happened since the swop out . The part numbers for the injectors are correct . I'll probably replace the blue temperature sensor but that's quite new so if any one has any suggestions I'd appreciate your views .
Thanks
Idle speed

Try resetting the ECU by disconnecting it or the battery and leaving it for an hour or so, reconnect then let the engine idle for at least 10 minutes to learn base idle settings.
Switch off, then take it for a drive throughout the rev range.

if that does not do the trick. check out you tps. throttle position sensor is adjusted correctly.
quick check . get as quite place as possible . open the throttle slowly by hand you should be able to hear a click as the micro switch turns off. more info on here wiki about tps. ( how to check it with a multi-meter ) that is what tells your icv to operate. via the ecu obviously.

Thanks both , the ECU reset appears to have worked , the idle is now around 6 -700 but a worrying thing happened when I took it for a spin in that after about a mile the engine just died , I checked that fuel was reaching the injector rail which it was, fuse 11 ok , I kept spinning the engine over , a kind guy stopped and turned the engine over while I checked whether there was a spark at plug one which there was and the engine started .So it would appear I have another problem somewhere .

Sounds like a loose earth - check the engine to body earth strap, for starters. Then check any brown (earth) terminals where they bolt onto the body in the engine bay.

mine did a similar thing, not 100 % sure what was the cause , think it was an air leak on the inlet side, you need to do a thorough vacuun test.Bonymaenjack wrote:Thanks both , the ECU reset appears to have worked , the idle is now around 6 -700 but a worrying thing happened when I took it for a spin in that after about a mile the engine just died , I checked that fuel was reaching the injector rail which it was, fuse 11 ok , I kept spinning the engine over , a kind guy stopped and turned the engine over while I checked whether there was a spark at plug one which there was and the engine started .So it would appear I have another problem somewhere .

I'll check all the earth connections this weekend but wouldn't the car run with the earth detached, mine just shuddered to a stop as if it was fuel starvationSpeedtouch wrote:Sounds like a loose earth - check the engine to body earth strap, for starters. Depends which earth is loose/detached, for instance, if the ignition coil isn't earthed properly, it could well cut out or be intermittent; same would apply to ECU, injector loom, fuel pump relay, etc.Bonymaenjack wrote: I'll check all the earth connections this weekend but wouldn't the car run with the earth detached, mine just shuddered to a stop as if it was fuel starvation
