I have a 86 E30 325 sport that will not start and i have it narrowed down to a fuel issue. It was in storage and has not been started in 10 years. There was a cobra alarm in it that I have now removed. The fuel pump was stuck but i managed to free it out but it spins but doesn't pump so waiting on a replacement but it still spins when power applied to relay.
-There is power to the coil and spark,
-There is power at fuel pump relay but the switched negative from the ecu is not present
-If i put a ground to the relay the pump cuts in.
-If i take off the ECU plug and ground pin 3 going to the pump relay the pump also cuts in.
I have it down to the ECU not giving the (-ve) output but am wondering would you have any other ideas as there is a sticker on the ECU saying it was repaired/rebuilt by some company before. I am wondering am i missing an input to the ECU which in turn is not telling the ecu to produce the ground to the Pump relay?
Thanks in advance,

Do you mean its not priming before cranking as this normal. It pumps when the engine is turning.

No its not pumping at all unless the relay is grounded or crossed there is no negative feed from pin 3 of ECU to the relay at any time but if pin 3 at the ecu is supplied with a ground the pump runs.
