Hi,

I think I need to change my SI battery’s behind my cluster. I have done all the usual checks... brass nut, earthed correctly etc so I feel this may be the next step.

Does anyone know where I can get the battery’s with the prongs on? I can source them from the states but these don’t have the prongs on I would also (for obvious reasons) like to get them from the uk.

Thanks a lot.[/b]

CPC-Farnell. Read this from the Wiki, especially the section, replacing SI batteries.

They would have to be the same type and voltage. Mine are 1.2 volt Ni Cad but lithium were also available I think in later models. You do not have to be a genius at soldering either to wire a battery pack outside of the cluster altogether attached to the connector points on the circuit board. This would save you having to remove the cluster every few years to replace the batteries and also you do not need to source batteries with tabs on them.

The symptom I had with failing batteries was that after re-setting the service indicator lights every few days they would revert to inspection light showing again.
