Hi All,
The thread his slipping on one of my screws. The female part, not the male.
Rather than attempt to rethread it (it's diameter is very small) is there a compound available that I could use, just to tighten things up and allow the male part to get a better grip?
I do not want to lock it in place using a glue.
Any solutions?
TIA.
Rethread?

Bit confused here . Screws dont have femail parts so can you tell us a bit more please and what part it is and also the thread detail ?
I have only come across helicoils or thread inserts both of which are really good so if a "compound" can be found that will solve this , wow !!
Mart.

Hi mart,
This is not an e30 part, I put it in this section (sorry) because of the technical advice I was after.
Let me try and explain it a bit better:
Think about the winder on your watch. It has a thumb screw type head attached to a long shaft that goes into the watch.
This shaft has a thread at the top section only, closest to the winder head, remainder of the shaft is plain. Does that make sense so far?
The shaft goes into a hole, which also has a threaded. It's this (female) hole that isn't allowing the shaft to tighten against it.
Does that make sense?

Yeh it does now .
It sounds like either the shaft part of the thread is damaged or the thread on the female part is not letting the thread to come together properly.
These are such fine and small threads that I would not trust them to anyone but a watch "guru" .
Fart and its all over mate !!
I have cut 1mm threads on the cnc and had better results than by hand. !!
