Just pulled the cabby from its slumber and noticed that the SI board lights are all on (all green) when she is running - I.e they don't go out.

Is this the batteries telling me they are on the way out??

This proberly won't be much help, but how many lights were on before its hibernation time,if all lit up maybe try resetting them.

Did the car hibernate with or without battery connected?

Two versions of SI board randomly fitted to E30s, and what happens when you leave the battery disconnected varies depending on which version you have
If you have the type with two AA sized NiCd batteries, then the short answer is nothing, if the batteries are in good condition. They should be more than capable of supporting the SI board through a winter, and should recharge as soon as the car battery is reconnected, but, if they are past their best (max. life of about ten years or so), they might not last the winter, but may or may not come back to life when their charging supply is restored.
These batteries are the ones that leak and destroy the SI board when they fail, so it's not a good idea to ignore SI light faults.
The other type of board uses Lithium batteries which are not rechargeable, so these will be damaged every time the car battery is disconnected for a significant time. The total disconnected life time is a few years, so, if this winter hibernation has been a regular thing, the batteries may well be dead.
Either way, it's board out time to check the voltage of the batteries, and replace if needed.
