E30 touring rear suspension prob!!!

Any body shed some light on how to change the bushes on the rear of the car? The bushes are the ones that are fixed to the inner sill in front of the rear wheels.
Ive been told by a garage that they need burning out and will take about 5hrs, is this true or rocking horse sxxt?

Rear subframe bushes... you need a special tool to remove them but can mock one up quite easilly. Some people have done their own but it's a total pig of a job and I personally wouldn't even attempt it. It's about Ԛ£100 - Ԛ£140 depending on where you go to get it done.

Sometimes they do need burning out when they're really stuck, you can't tell how long it's going to take until you get it all apart and try removing them. Get a fixed price from the garage first and don't pay more than Ԛ£140 max

It's also one of those "while you are in there" jobs.
Its worth checking and considering changing:
The rear trailing arm bushes.
The rear brake pipes, solid and flexible.
The fuel tank, for checking and painting around the filler flange, and replacing the high pressure hoses.

Cheers for the replies chaps. Managed to get it booked in at a main bmw dealer for Ԛ£157 inc vat and parts. Small price to pay after considering the sweat, blood and colourful language that this job carries!!!
