Enter your VIN into realoem, then look at the list below the diagrams. The parts required for your car will be the bits that are listed, although individual parts may or may not look anything like the illustration of the part.

Thanks Brian, this is the list of exhaust parts that come up for my car... hence my confusion...
If it is a 3 piece system I expect to see a front (down pipes), a middle and a muffler...
By my reckoning there are only 2 pieces for me choose from???
May just climb underneath the car in the morning...

I had a hard time matching bits for my 1990 vert.
On mine the first box had stubb pipes at the front to meet the down pipe, then long pipes at the rear who meet the back box. The back box had short pipes both front and back, I could never find a drawing that matched this in any way.
Usually the front box is long to the manifold, with short output pipes, and the rear box has long front pipes.
Absolute pain to find the right bits.

Largely ignore the ETK (realoem) diagrams and concentrate on the items listed for your VIN. The diagram are often just generic.paultv wrote: I could never find a drawing that matched this in any way.

Speak to Cotswolds, last 7 digits from your VIN should help.

Yeah I have done...
Didn't know that you can swap 3 piece for 2 piece... From the WIKI:
M20 3-piece Exhaust system
M20-engined cars were fitted with two basic types of system; a three piece and a two piece.
The systems are interchangeable complete, note that you cannot 'pick and mix' between systems, so the centre and rear of a three piece system will not fit the front of a two piece system.
So I have been quoted for a full 2 piece system including all nuts bolts and hangers etc £930... (gulp)
Now all I need to know is how long it should take (roughly) to replace the exhaust...?

Depends on what facilities you have and how cooperative the manifold to downpipe nuts decide to be.Gavla wrote: Now all I need to know is how long it should take (roughly) to replace the exhaust...?
On a ramp, with obliging nuts, it can be done in an hour.
Get everything all lined up and exactly in place before finally tightening anything up, and always replace the afore mentioned nuts with the correct new copper covered ones.

Thanks Brian...
Wont be doing it myself, just estimating full cost...
I am guessing it is worth me doing the snapped manifold stud at the same time... it is the stud which is most difficult to get to...

You won't get a better time.Gavla wrote: I am guessing it is worth me doing the snapped manifold stud at the same time
When it's off, check that the face that bolts to the head is flat, and get it machined if it isn't.
