hi guys
just had a radiator hose for my 325e decide to quit on me.
my problem is the replacement I bought from fcp euro (crp brand) with same part number pn#11531286914 for my car does fit perfectly but it necks down in size between radiator and thermostat the original bmw part does not.
does anybody know why this is so, is it a revised part or just something other part suppliers do. and the main question will it affect the operation of the cooling system?
radiator to thermostat hose

Agree with the above.

there in lies my problem I live in australia, from the dealer that hose would cost over au $60.00. and roughly the same for all the other hoses totaling around $300.00 plus.I can usually buy the same part overseas for half or less than what it would cost here.( I would support australian companies if they were reasonable with their prices)martauto wrote:Buy one from the main dealer as they are not that expensive.

i bought 8 hose in total 4 genuine bmw 2 meyle 1 crp and 1 overflow listed as oem, for about au$100, from an american company called fcp euro, who must think the part to be of at the very least, decent quality, considering they have a lifetime replacement policy on all their products.(no good to me in aus cost to much to send it back for a replacement).
the part is made in turkey and labeled as coming from crp industries which own continental/contitech, rein, pentosin and more.
I believe some of CRP industries subsidiary companies are also oe suppliers to bmw (not 100% sure about this) although this hose is listed as aftermarket. the hose looks to be of decent quality it is just that it reduces in size. I have seen a lot of pics of different brands that look the same, even one pic of a bmw hose that looks to step down in size half the hoses in this kit are genuine bmw which step down in size but the existing ones on the car do not.
I am worried about a reduction in flow and possible side effects, although the inside of the hose should be about the same size as the inside of the radiator and thermostat. is it possible it is just a revised part.

as, the rad is not permanently passing water thru it , with the control of the thermostat .
provided your thermostat is good and your rad not blocked and your viscous fan working, water pump o.k and fan belt not slipping. As long as the internal minimum hose diameter is no less that the thermostat hosing diameter , you should be o.k. try it and watch the gauge like a hawk. take spare coolant on trip.
check out my post on 'viscous fan' you tube how to check.
basically you should not be able to stop it with a rolled up magazine when engine warm.
