I put £20 of fuel in the tank from empty and usually the gauge reaches just under a 1/4 full but the last couple of times it just gets out of the red,but it still does the the same miles 90/100,any ideas ?

When you add a small amount of fuel to a 63 litre tank, it only acts on the RH level sender until the engine has run for a while, and moved some of the fuel into the LH side.
Possibly the LH sender sticking at empty?

Cheers Brian, can the senders be tested and changed if faulty.

Senders are located under the panels beneath the rear seat base, so are easily accessible for testing.
They should read between about 60 ohms for empty to 0 ohms for full, but the difficulty is knowing how much fuel is in each side of the tank to be able to gauge if they are correct.
I wouldn't be surprised if your problem was cured by simply filling the tank close to full for once, so that the fuel flows over the 'bridge' between the two tanks and stirs up the LH ender.
