I all,
My fuel gauge seems to have been knocked out somehow when there was work being done on the car.
It reads 1/4 tank full but is just about to run out of fuel at this point!!!
Is there a way to re-set the gauge ?

Thanks

What work? If the fuel pump was removed from the tank by the uninitiated, the fuel level sender may have been damaged.

I can think of nothing involved with a simple engine change that could affect your fuel gauge.
There's a small brass nut on the back of the instrument cluster that will make the gauge read slightly high if it's loose or missing.
55 litre and 62 litre fuel tanks use different fuel level sender arrangements, and require different gauges in the cluster. This can only happen if a tank or cluster is changed for the wrong one.
Needle can be bent if the cluster is taken opened up and care not taken.
What makes you think it's about to run out of fuel? Is the low fuel light on?

If the low fuel light isn't on, then I'd suspect a damaged sensor, stopping the float from falling right down or another possibility is an aftermarket pump has been fitted that doesn't pick up from the bottom of the tank.
Still nothing that could be attributed to an engine change.
Note how much fuel you can put in to brim the tank.
