fitting bilstein b4 inserts

hi guys. im just fitting some bilstein b4 inserts to the front strutts on my 89 325 touring. i bought them from demon tweeks for a very good price and had them check that they fitted my vehicle twice but they seem to stand about 3-4 mm proud when in the strutt even before the threaded locking cap goes on. after the cap is tightened down there seems to still be about a third of the threaded section showing. it definately doesnt look right. does anybody have any experience with these? they are for the 51mm strutts so could they be the wrong length? any help appreciated as this could slow my project getting to the paint shop. thanks si

That sounds correct. The nut that retains the dampers would screw in about another 6mm or so if the damper was left out.
