I have an 88 2 door 325is. I recently pulled off the door trim as shown in the photos but may have done it incorrectly. Does the little metal post at the rear of the door trim attatch to the trim and then pop into the car or attach to the car and the trim pops onto it?
As you can see in one of the photos the trim popped onto the post which was left installed in the door but the trim does not seal all the way.
I tried to pull the pins out of the door on the passenger side and it did not come easily ”“ I did not put full force into it.
Any advice is appreciated!

If you open the door, you'll see that the 'pin' is a stud, with a black dome headed nut securing it. The knurled part of the pin that can be seen in the pic. should be moulded permanently into the trim. It will need pushing back in with some kind of adhesive to re bond it, if you want to reuse the trim.

@brianmoooore - many thanks for the advice! (apologies for the late reply)
That make sense - I'll reglue the studs into the trim and tighten them down from the inside.
