Hi i fitted a new pump and now the car wont start pump working any ideas please

Did you replace the whole pump assembly, or just the pump?

Just the pump its working but not pulling petrol tried priming and nothing it a proper bosch unit took it out put it in a bucket and put 12 v and works fine put back in and nothing bridged relay still nothing going crazy !!

Are the wires to the pump connected the right way around? If connected wrongly, the pump will try to suck petrol into the tank, not push it out.

I had solderd the red to the + and the black to the - on the pump but the plug was the other way round so i swaped them !

Presuming the brown on the plug should go to the red or+

The green/purple wire in the car loom must end up connected to the + terminal of the pump, and the brown wire in the loom must eventually connect to the - terminal on the pump.

Ok had it that way originally and it still didnt work !so i presumed it wss wrong !i will swap them back tomm and try again ! Much obliged !how should i bridge the relay to check please ?

Link pins 30 and 87 of the relay socket to run the pump.
