Boot opening super quick, could take a jaw off

Does the lid have a spoiler attached? If not, the springs may be set in the position for one fitted.

Thanks for being absolutely useless 
The problem is not getting hit by the boot lid but rather the fact of how quick it flings up, potentially damaging its mechanism.

Brianmoooore thank you, I recently took the spoiler off for a respray that must be the issue
