Hey guys, i wanna put a larger radiator in my 85 323i which is running an 88 325i Sport engine and box. Pretty sure it's the original rad in it, as the engine swap was a cheap job done by a tightass mechanic before i got the car. Just rebuilt the engine and wanna make sure she's getting proper cooling as i don't want another cracked head!
Are there any articles on upgrades or common swaps, as a quick Google search is bringing up very few aftermarket upgrades
Thanks in advance
Radiator upgrades?

How about the E30 tropical radiator, I don't know much about it but worth a look.

Tropical set up was for air con cars, so poss more capacity as I think they are thicker?

I've sourced one online, about 185 quid for a nissens- I'd almost spend a bit more and get a mishimoto for £228, but they only list it for the e30 M3 so don't know whether it'll fit or be man enough for the big of 6 cylinder?
There is talk on American forums about using later e46 rads, but looks like you have to fudge hoses and mess about a bit

325i air con rads are 'taller' than non air con rads. I say taller, it actually extends down further behind the front valance - you would need to cut the extra slot in the valence to get any benefit.
But unless you're using the car for track days etc, just fit an E30 325i rad. Fitting a larger rad can make the engine run too cool, which isn't good for it either.

E36 m3 rad is big and an easy fit, just needs 2 small plastic rad mounts instead of one big and one small.........
However, as james says above, a standard 325i rad and cooling system in good condition will adequately cool an m20. if it won't, somethings not working right.

E36 M3 and M20 tropical rads are pretty much the same thing

Thanks for the help guys, looks like I'll just get a decent standard rad and some high quality coolant then and maybe some Water Wetter
