I originally posted this in the M5x section but no one answered, so I thought I would try here.

Hi all,

Engine - M52 2.8 - donor car reg S161 EWH

I want to replace the hardened gasket as above. I bought a cheap aftermarket one of someone on here and found the semi circle bits to fill the cut out for the cams had tabs on it where it should have had insets (see photos). Because I got it for cheapness I thought - must have the wrong one - I'd just cut the tabs off and see if I can make it fit . . that didn't work!! So I have just bought one from BMW on here . . the part is the same as the aftermarket one. It has tabs on it and no slots / recesses for to fit the rocker cover.

inside side of the rocker cover.

Showing the two - the new one has tabs and bits sticking out where it should have slots

So I bought an OEM one from the stealers on here and when it arrived its the same as the one I butchered earlier!! Am I missing something? Is there a mod required for the gasket??
