I have an e30 turbo which has a problem with the diff leaking oil out of the vent tube. I have stripped it and found the pinion bearings to be lumpy so I have replaced them all and am planning on putting new clutch discs in. The new clutch discs are 2.1 rather than 2.0, will there be any negative efffects from putting the slightly thicker discs in? I'm thinking from what I have found it will increase the preload on the lsd making it basically slightly more like a welded diff, making it under steer more but better in straight line grip? I'm also thinking maybe the reason for the leak was it was getting to hot due to the bearing and maybe worn clutch discs slipping more making more heat, also I have noticed all m cars have a heat sink type rear diff cover where as mine is still a standard one
Thanks

You can get different shims from BMW to adjust the preload but how it's all measured etc I don't know. The heat sink rear covers are on back order from BMW I believe - and they are not cheap, new or used!

Yer they don't sell the shims any more, I messaged fhem to ask. But the clutch plates that were in it are 2.0mm and my new ones are 2.1mm so I'm adding 0.2mm, so was wondering what effect this would have? Yer I have messaged them about the z3m rear diff cover......£450 a˜®a˜®a˜®
