My rear back plates are booogered. The holes for the hold down spring pins have corroded so now the pins drop out and the springs and pins spend a lot of time doing a "Hot wash" cycle until I take them out, Not Ideal.

Replacing the back plates appears to be a total pig for such an annoyingly small but important problem.

So, make the holes bigger, weld or tack replacement cups? anyone done this or has any useful hints tips, cup types that will work?

Handbrake is Sh1te to say the least despite new shoes, discs/drums and all that stuff - guess the shoes are not "centered"

if you don't want to replace the backing plates then you can hold the pins in place by using "lockheed" washers

these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BRAKE-SHOE-HO ... 1106046115

or use a strip of m6 threaded bar & a couple of washers & m6 lock nuts with new springs.

choice is yours.

no worries, mine are held in by the nut/bolt/spring/washer combo, have been for the last 5yr's, no probs so far.
