Hi On the way home the other night the wipers went from intermitant to constant and the washers came on! 8O

When home I took the switch off and thought it was buggered so I have another on its way but today when I started her up and used the old switch to turn on the wipers, they would not stop . I turned her off and then back on and the wipers came on again but without the switch in place.
Is this the case of the K10 relay being scrap?

Not necessarily scrap, but it's likely to be the source of your problems. Pull it out, noting if there's anything metallic which has slid under it and may be shorting pins, and then open it up and see if anything obvious is amiss.

Now I removed the said item and first of all may I say ,being an engineer, what a piece of kit this is !!!

I opened it up and can not see anything or smell anything amiss so can you buy these items new?

Cheers Mart.

If you're going to replace the relay I'd recommend one from these people http://www.e30ig.com/ I can't imagine it's any more expensive than an original BMW item and the variable speed feature is very useful.

Cheers, I had to have a very quick fix and a £`10 relay sorted it all out :D :D
Should it wipe four times on the wash feature ?

60 USD, including shipping, so 45GBP last year, around 55 GBP now, and anything up to 100GBP in the not to distant future, following the outbreak of mass insanity in the UK a few months ago!
Looks to be a useful and reasonably priced bit of kit, unlike the rest of the boy racer/gimmick stuff they offer.
Appears to work in exactly the same way as the units I built and fitted to a couple of my Minis almost half a century ago, that I mentioned in another thread recently.

Wipes a few times when the washers are operated. Possibly four. Can't say I've ever counted.
The wipers run all the time the washers button is pushed, plus some extra times, so it depends on how long you wash.
