M20 B23 engine and gearbox

Hi guys, can anybody please give me an idea of what an M20B23 engine is worth, did run when taken out but history unknown. Same again for the 4 speed Getrag box. These were in my E30 when i bought it, but not needed due to engine conversion. Thanks, James 07928 582099.

4-speed gearbox on a 323i? I was under the impression all six-pots came with 5-speed as standard.

4 speed is the auto. manuals are the 240 240/5 260 5 speed getrags

Guess it must be a 5 speed box then, i just assumed it was 4 speed because of the age. Any idea on value and is there much demand for these?

Being quite a 'rare' engine as it was only built for 2 or 3 years before the 325i (M20B25) came along, I guess it will have some value amongst avid 323i enthusiasts, however, they may want to know the age of it, as the 1982-1984 323i had 137bhp while the 1984-1985 323i had 150bhp - quite a difference.

However, many E30 owners want either the M20B25 or M20B27/28, so you may struggle to sell it, unless you target specific 323i owners, or those with pre-facelift 320i models looking for a 'plug & play' upgrade.
