hi guys,

just wondering if this is possible? as the parts are cheaper and more readily available.

basically what i would like to know id if i can use a Z3 or TI rear end to convert to discs but retain the E30 4 stud set up, by replacing hubs and discs with new E30 items?

any help / advice would be great!

Cheers!

Thinking about it, I don't think you can as the brake calipers - and therefore the castings on the trailing arm that the calipers mount to - are different. And you can't use 4-stud brake discs with the 318ti trailing arms as the depth of the bell on the disc is different.

Happy to be proven wrong though.

I've read that the calipers will bolt up, but why bother messing with all that when there are other options out there?

How about this,

Thanks for the info Motorhole. and chu346 I'm only doing it to convert to discs from drums. Wouldn't require massive brakes . But thanks for the link, I'll keep it in mind! :)

Your best to use the rear arms from a 325i then.

It's only the smaller engined E30 saloons that were fitted with rear drums, and even these had rear discs if ABS was specified. All tourings (except the non UK diesel), all cabs., the iS and the 325 saloon were fitted with rear discs as standard, so there are plenty out there.
