I started up my e30 this morning with no problem (as usual) and rolled both front electric windows down. I then proceeded to roll them back up but the motor wouldn't work.
I turned off the engine to investigate and then it wouldn't start back up.
Some electrics work - Lights, radio and wipers still work
Some don't - No dash lights work except the battery one, no dials, no windows, fan etc. It's almost as if the key will only turn to the first setting.
I took the battery out and took it to the dealer and they replaced it under warranty, fitted the new one and still nothing.
The car is an '88 318i Automatic Saloon.
If anyone knows how to fix this I would be very grateful.
Some Electrics Working, car won't crank, Please Help

First suggestion was going to be something to do with the unloader relays, K5 and K7, which are linked to the starter motor, but that wouldn't affect the dash warning lights or the instruments.
It could be something to do with the ignition switch, as you surmise, but then the battery warning light wouldn't work.
Are you sure your description is accurate?
Will the windows work if a front door is open?
Can you give a full list of EXACTLY what works a what doesn't, including the door mirrors and reversing light.
