Hey Guys,

My trailing arms and struts are on the floor and I am refurbing them but not sure how to get the hubs off the trailing arms and the struts? I was thinking of investing in those 3 leg puller devices but not quite sure how it will work if the middle threaded bolt has nothing to push on so that the legs can pull the hub off? Any ideas or anything on amazon anyone could suggest? I was thinking of the slide hammers but they are v expensive and not sure if that is worth it.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.
Thanks

This kit makes rear wheel bearing swaps nice and easy: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/23Pc-Front-Wh ... Sw~bFWMyBT

that is the kit I have ordered but that won't pull the hub though will it? Only once the hub is out it can pull the bearing out?

Ahh yes, sorry. To remove the hub you can use a large bearing splitter which sits just behind the flange. Then you can slowly thread m12x1.5 bolts through the hub bolt holes so they act against the splitter and force the hub outwards.

edit to include pic of someone doing something similar:

Ahh brilliant! Thanks! Why does he have rope/thread around the nuts - just acting as a spacer? Is it worth investing in a bearing splitter like that since I have already bought the other kit (for taking the bearings out and pressing them back in) or is there anything else I can use?

I'm not sure what the intention is with that string but it is completely unnecessary as far as I'm concerned.

The bearing splitter is useful to have as it gives you an easy way of removing old bearing races from hubs or stub axles. Saying that you could easily just use a couple of chunks of metal for this particular job.
